Foundations for success

Foundations for Success is a specialist GCSE to A-level Mathematics transition programme, designed to help students secure the essential building blocks needed for a successful start to sixth-form study.Each programme begins with a careful diagnostic assessment, identifying strengths, gaps and misconceptions. Teaching is then sequenced in small, manageable steps, combining clear explanation, worked examples, guided practice and independent application.Sessions are responsive and adapted to the needs of the individual. Key GCSE concepts are revisited, strengthened and connected to the demands of A-level Mathematics, ensuring that the necessary building blocks are secure before students move on to more advanced ideas.The aim is not simply to complete more questions. Coy Pond Education was founded by our Lead Tutor, Darren Barton. Darren is an experienced Mathematics teacher and education leader with 30 years’ experience in schools across the UK.He holds an MA in Mathematics Education alongside both his Mathematics degree and Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) specialising in Mathematics Education. His experience as a Teacher of Mathematics and Computer Science, Head of Mathematics, Headteacher, Director of Teacher Training, School Improvement Lead and MAT Executive gives him a powerful and unique insight to the education sector and a deep understanding of how students learn effectively.Darren holds an Enhanced DBS Certificate and is a member of The Tutors’ Association, subscribing fully to its Code of Practice.
